Turquoise Lake - a lake on the island of Wolin, in the south of the village of Wapnica (commune of Międzyzdroje), in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The surface of the lake is 6.74 hectares and its depth is 21.2 m. Because the water surface is 2.6 m above sea level, the lake creates cryptodepression at a depth of 18.6 m above sea level. Turquoise Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes of the Wolin National Park and enjoys record popularity. Its beauty is mainly determined by the turquoise color of the water, which is nothing more than a light effect resulting from the reflection of the light beam from the white chalky bottom of the lake. The reservoir was created as a result of flooding of the calcium carbonate mine that had once operated in this place.
