The pier was built in 1885, initially as a small wooden bridge and as the first such facility in this region. He was given the name of the German emperor Frederick as a proof of gratitude for his help in expanding the marina on Lake Wicko and for staying at the spa in Międzyzdroje. A thorough expansion of the newer pier began in 1994. The first part was 120 m long, 17.5 m wide and began to be used in 1996. Then the pier was extended to a length of 395 m. It was completed at the end of 2004. Finally, it was extended by another 275 m. The costs of extending the pier amounted to EUR 2 million. Since June 2005, the pier in Międzyzdroje has the status of a marina. An interesting fact is that from September 2006, for a year, a maritime border crossing Międzyzdroje was operating on the pier.
