It was created as part of the State Musical Theater in 1977, transformed in 1980 into the Dramatic Theater and Chamber Orchestra. In addition to participating in opera performances, the orchestra has been conducting independent concert activities since its inception. From 1992, she was part of the institution called State Chamber Orchestra and Impresario Theater. By the decision of the City Council of Słupsk of June 29, 2005, this institution was transformed into the Polish Philharmonic Sinfonia Baltica in Słupsk. The orchestra was played by the greatest soloists and conductors. Since its inception, the philharmonic has been associated with the Polish Piano Festival held in Słupsk every year, often taking part in the premieres of works by Polish composers.
