Gerhard's Fort in Świnoujście, until recently colloquially known as the Eastern one, is one of the best-preserved nineteenth-century coastal artillery forts in our part of Europe. Built in 1848-1859 by Prussian fortifications, it was one of the four basic defensive works making up the Świnoujście Sea Fortress. The main task of the fort was to defend the port of Świnoujście against the enemy fleet. Gerhard's Fort covers an area of ​​5 ha, which is surrounded by a wide moat, with over a dozen stone fortifications and a large number of various defensive structures formed from the ground.
